It allows you secure permanent access to federated digital services in research and education areas.

How do I create my DFN edu-ID?
You can create your DFN edu-ID while you are logged into a service provider or at the DFN edu-ID portal:

At the DFN edu-ID portal you can choose between registering via registration form or through your home organisation.
If you register via home organisation you may have several choices depending on your affiliations.
In the case that you are affiliated to different federated organisations, you will have to choose one of them from a list prompting during the registration process.

What are my responsibilities by registering my DFN edu-ID?
- a) All data entered by you, e.g. name, e-mail address, registration address, must correspond to the truth.
- b) Please keep your details up to date and update them. Reliable operation of the DFN edu-ID service is only possible if the data is correct at all times. For this purpose the DFN edu-ID service may send you regular reminders by e-mail.
- c) You are responsible for taking the necessary precautions to protect your password and, if applicable, further authentications, so that your DFN edu-ID account cannot be used by third parties.
- d) You are responsible for all activities related to your DFN edu-ID account.
- e) You may not hold more than one DFN edu-ID account. You are required to actively participate in the detection, prevention and cleaning up of duplicates, e.g. by responding to appropriate DFN-Verein queries or by following the instructions of the DFN edu-ID team. If you discover or have unintentionally created duplicates, contact support@eduid.dfn.de. DFN-Verein reserves the right to merge and/or delete user accounts identified as duplicates, which may result in data loss or access restriction to certain services or other resources.
- f) Misuse of a user account or the DFN edu-ID service or violation of these Terms of Use may result in the suspension or or deletion of the user account.
Can I have more than one DFN edu-ID?
No, you are only allowed to register one DFN edu-ID!
